The Biblical Artifact Pendants That Have Been Turning Heads for 2,000 Years

Nearly 2,000 years ago, Jesus sat in the Temple, watching people give their offerings. The wealthy gave large sums, but it was a poor widow who caught His attention. She quietly placed two tiny coins into the offering box — and He said she had given more than anyone else.

This scene is referenced in Luke 21:1-4. "And He looked up and saw the rich putting their gifts into the treasury, and He saw also a certain poor widow putting in two mites. So He said, “Truly I say to you that this poor widow has put in more than all; for all these out of their abundance have put in offerings for God, but she out of her poverty put in all the livelihood that she had.”"

Those two coins weren’t gold or silver. They were small, humble pieces of bronze. The kind used by everyday people in the marketplaces of ancient Judea.

This coin was called a prutah (plural prutoh); Roughly struck, about the size of a thumbnail, and minted in the decades before Jesus’ ministry. These were the type of coins that were circulating around the Holy Land during the life of Christ.

Many people are surprised to learn that these exact types of coins still exist today. Thanks to archaeological discoveries in the Holy Land, tens thousands of authentic bronze prutoh have been unearthed, cleaned, and preserved.

They aren’t museum-only pieces. They're real, tangible artifacts — and they can be owned by ordinary people. In fact, many faithful Christians today are choosing to wear them as jewelry.

Each pendant features a genuine bronze Prutah, circulated in the Holy land during the life of Christ, set in a beautiful heirloom-quality frame. The coin itself hasn’t been altered — it still carries the marks of time, of earth, and of use. But now, it can be worn as a symbol of humility, devotion, and the enduring power of Scripture.

Wearing one of these pendants is more than a fashion statement. It’s a way to keep the Gospel close — to remember the story of a woman whose quiet faith echoed through history.
