The Lexias Pardalis, commonly known as the Common Archduke, is a captivating butterfly belonging to the Nymphalidae family. This species is native to various regions in Southeast Asia, including countries such as India, Thailand, Malaysia, and Indonesia.

One notable aspect of the Common Archduke is its sexual dimorphism. Males and females display different coloration and patterns on their wings, with females exhibiting a black/dark brown base with golden spots. 

These butterflies are commonly found in forested areas, including both primary and secondary forests. They are known to inhabit the forest canopy, showcasing agile and erratic flight patterns. The Common Archduke is often observed flying at considerable heights in the treetops and is attracted to rotting fruit.
